Two-factor authentication is quickly becoming more prevalent in modern digital security. With the excitement of opening brand new devices around the holidays, it can be easy to forget how much we rely on our smartphones, tablets, and laptops to protect our data.

The Tezos Foundation made two-factor authentication (2FA) optional for fundraiser contributors as part of its verification process. For contributors who enabled this feature, setting up 2FA on a new device requires disabling the active 2FA in order to configure it on the new device. Two-factor authentication varies between platforms and devices, so contributors should be familiar with the unique requirements for their specific 2FA codes.

To deactivate a current 2FA:

  1. Log into verification.tezos.com
  2. Select “Profile”
  3. Select “KYC / AML Account Security”
  4. Enter your 2FA code
  5. Click “Disable”

To set up 2FA on a new device:

  1. Log into verification.tezos.com
  2. Select “Profile”
  3. Select “KYC / AML Account Security”
  4. Take a picture of the QR code in your 2FA application
  5. Enter your 2FA code to enable
